Forecast fine weather for Port Arthur Tattoo

05/04/2013

The weather forecast for Saturday’s Port Arthur Tattoo is fine and mostly sunny with light winds and a maximum of 21 degrees Celsius - ideal conditions to enjoy the massed pipe and military bands of Tasmania performing against the backdrop of the World Heritage listed Port Arthur Historic Site penitentiary.

The inaugural Port Arthur Tattoo is presented as a generous show of support to the local community following the January bushfire emergency which effectively put a halt on business operations for ten days during the ordinarily, very busy month.

A committee of band representatives from across the state, coordinated by the Tasmania Police Pipe Band, have collaborated to stage this performance. The Rosny branch of RACT is sponsoring and the Port Arthur Historic Site Management Authority (PAHSMA) is proud to present the event.

The Port Arthur Tattoo program will feature exhilarating performances by The Tasmania Police Pipe Band, The Clarence Concert Band, City of Hobart Highland Pipe Band, St Andrews Caledonian Pipe Band, Derwent Scottish Pipe Band, Hobart Australian Navy Cadet Band, Army Band Tasmania and the fleet footed Hobart Irish Dancers and the Hobart Highland Dancers. Entertainers Andrew Colrain and Daryl Peebles will delight as your comperes for the show.

The Port Arthur gourmet barbeque will be available packed with tasty treats and local distiller William McHenry & Sons will be on site to tempt you with his single malt whisky.

Pack your tartan picnic blanket, stake your spot on the grass and enjoy an amazing performance, stunning heritage, delicious food, whisky and wine, all at Port Arthur.

Why not make a weekend of it? For accommodation ideas and inspiration, check out the Tasman Region website at www.tasmanregion.com.au or www.tassiecomebacktour.com.au
