Mark Webber Challenge visits Port Arthur
The annual Mark Webber Pure Tasmania Challenge was held last week and for the first time a stage was held on the Tasman Peninsula, culminating with a stage finish at the Port Arthur Historic Site on Saturday 22 November.
The event ended somewhat uncomfortably for Mark Webber when he was involved in an accident during a mountain bike section along Fortescue Bay Road on Saturday and then flown to hospital suffering from a broken leg.
However he and other participants enjoyed a celebratory dinner at the Historic Site on Friday evening, and the event based itself at the Comfort Inn, adjacent to the Site, for two nights.
The Mark Webber Pure Tasmania Challenge raises much needed funds for the Leukaemia Foundation and the Save the Tassie Devil Appeal. Donations can be made via the website below.
The event concluded in Hobart on Sunday.
