Venue change for next Port Arthur Talk

14/04/2014

Come along to the next Port Arthur Talk to find out what is involved in saving one of Tasmania's most recognisable built structures so that it will be available to be visited and studied for generations to come. This talk will be held in the Asylum Hall.

One of Tasmania's most recognisable landmarks, the Penitentiary at Port Arthur, is being conserved in a project costing more than $7 million.  Expected to take around ten months, the project seeks to ensure the structural integrity of the Penitentiary for future generations

Michael Pender will outline  the Penitentiary Precinct Conservation Project.  The presentation will provide an overview of the multidisciplinary  project planning, the unique considerations which drove  the structural design solution and the conservation and interpretive works which have been incorporated within the project.

Michael is the Director of HPA Projects, based in Sydney.  He has extensive experience in heritage projects throughout Australia and internationally.
